Now Showing - Taare Zameen Par

People who know me in and out might be surprised to see me talking of movies. Well, I am not actually interested in the motion pictures, and the ‘craze’ associated with them is beyond me. But having seen this one movie n number of times, my opinion of movies has definitely seen a change. TZP is lot beyond just shooting, stating, singing, dancing, laughing, crying, drama, forcing fake emotions on people, celebrity fever or having multiple big names.

It is about understanding and making others understand, beyond the barriers of language. I recommended it to one non-Hindi speaking friend and she couldn’t find a version with captions and yet, understood the movie. There can possibly be no-one who hasn’t identified with any part, despite it having a complex theme [which is relevant among people of all age groups].

The beauty of colours,
The fact that every-one has something special,
Simple, relevant, elegantly carved dialogues,
And the inexplicable serene calm when you find that one person who understands you..

The Music is another ultimate stroke of brilliance.
When Kholo Kholo is a masterpiece; there is no one who can resist tears during ma,
Then there is Jame Raho’s panic and the title track’s splendor,
Mera Jahan is everyone’s dream song; Ishaan’s theme and the background scores just add to the radiance of the entire act.

With all of this, the ultra-sexy animations are just ‘wow’; they make you wonder about the scope of creative aptitude.

I know I am a little too late for a typical ‘review’, but I had to write on my appreciation for the script writer, director, actors and other crew. Just because this film has made me realize that movie-making is definitely not a kid’s job. I am currently watching its first television premier on Zee TV and I had watched it in its 1st week when my brother came down to India last time. Thus, extra added memories and more emotions attached to it.

Everyone has an Inu hidden in them. That’s what makes them relate to the concept.

Ending with one of the many dialogues that leave a mark on your minds,

I am a writer, english is my medium.

Aisa nahi hai ki mujhe hindi mein vartalaap karne mein kathinta hoti hai, naa-hi main ye keh rahi hu ki hindi mein baat karna kisi bhi prakaar-ki khaami se juda hai; Bas aisa hai ki angrezi mein review padhne ki adat si ho gayi hai.

Math IS alien subject.
It was sent 2 earth to make us earth dwellers crazy so that the extra-terestrials could attack us any-day.. They are successful, the virus has spread, now all we await for is the disaster... :-S

I love the film.
Especially the 'Taare Zameen Par' song where the parents watch their children perform. Aamir Khan is just an actor who may never meet those kids again but the looks on the parents' faces are priceless! They're brimming with pride, THAT brought tears to my eyes.
Sure Ishaan Awasthis's parents didn't understand him but those mentally challenged children had parents who stodd behind them and were SO proud of what they did!

@ Ki
Yeah, I so agree with that.

I toh cried through half the movie... Imagine my bro comes down 2 india 2 days ago...and there he is coming outta the threatre with all soggy t-shirt :P

Beautiful.
That's what this movie is.

Though it didn't touch me emotionally as much as it did others, I loved it because the movie is all about reality but feels so magical...

And yes, of course, kudos to Aamir Khan (who is selling out these days), and Amol Gupte (the one who came up with the concept, having kept it inside him for 2 years)

Express said...

@ Alok

Me too not much a movie watcher! kind of cynical about the mainstream Indian Movies... I would rather suggest you to watch World Movies,,, They which speak about the Human-life,, Slow-paced, they cross all the barriers and reveal the bare truth of human life, even a few bengali, malayam movies are really good, they talk about the social Stigmas...

Coming to TZP, havent watched the movies, read a lot about it, one of my friends is working on it! its a good attempt! but the other thing was,,

A lot of atention was given to the theme of the movie later.. It is kind of depressing to know that it took a TZP for parents n society to understand kids better,
Don't we all complicate the life of kids...???

Express said...

@ The Seeker
now now, that has always been the case..
a border comes and we pay homage 2 our soldiers
a RDB comes and we want 2 be a rebel..
It is sad, but blaming TZP is not the thing. Rather, its the credit of the movie that it cud drive attention towards the weak points of the society.

and im not a movie buff tooo!!!
but TZP is a must watch!
:-)
